Liverpool got a small payback for their failure in winning Premier League title last season as Brendan Rodgers' men defeated Manchester City during their US tour this midweek.
Playing in a friendly tournament, both of those teams were more keen on getting their shape back before the season start.
However, their rivalry last season created a tight encounter which saw both sides failing to score any goals during the first 45 minutes.
After the break, it was City that got things going as they got themselves in front through Stevan Jovetic's effort on 53 minutes.
Not long after that, Liverpool got themselves back on level terms though as Jordan Henderson equalized for them.
Jovetic continue to impress in this preseason as he completed his brace to give Man City their lead back on 67 minutes.
However, the Reds refused to give up easily as they snatched another equalizer, this time from Raheem Sterling's effort on 85 minutes.
The match eventually went to penalty shoot out where Liverpool run out as winner by 1-3 score line.
