Italy's World Cup 2014 preparation suddenly turned rather bleak after their weekend friendly match against Ireland, not because the Azzurri's failure to win but because of the injury to Riccardo Montolivo.
Keen on testing the result of their recent training camp, Italy put on an aggressive approach since kick off as they were targeting to get an early goal.
However, less than 10 minutes of that friendly fixture, a disappointing moment arrived for Prandelli's men as Montolivo picked up a serious injury which forced him to leave the playing field.
Soon afterwards another moment of bad luck occurred for Italy as Alberto Aquilani, who replaced the injured Montolivo, also left the pitch due to injury.
Those bad moments seemed to influence the flow of Azzurri's performance as they were finding difficulties in breaking down Ireland's defense.
After the break, both teams tried to improve their performance as they were keen on grabbing some goals to entertain the crowd.
Despite creating several goal scoring chances, none of those two teams were able to convert their opportunities forcing that game to end in a disappointing goalless draw.
