Brazilian side, Internacional took a slight advantage in the semifinal of Copa Libertadores after grabbing a home win over Tigres UANL this midweek.
Playing in front of their home crowd, Internacional immediately put on an attacking approach as they were keen on getting an early goal.
That aggressive display was immediately rewarded as they got themselves an early lead through Andres D'Alessandro who scored after just five minutes.
The host continue to push forward and five minutes later, they double their advantage, this time from Valdivia's effort.
Tigres refused to give up easily though as on 23 minutes they were able to pull one goal back through Hugo Ayala's effort.
After the break, both sides continue to push forward in search for more goals, but Tigres' shot in getting an equalizer was diminished when they have to play with 10 men, following Ayala's red card.
No more goals were netted until the final whistle was blown as Internacional hold their slender lead and prepare themselves for a tough second leg tie.
