After a rather disappointing first 45 minutes which saw the two sides failing to snatch any single goals, luck finally arrived for Inter midway into the second period as they broke the dead lock with a close range header from Yuto Nagatomo on 75 minutes. Nerazzurri eventually sealed all three points that day when Rodrigo Palacio finishing off Fredy Guarin's assist deep in stoppage time to make it 2-0 for Inter.
