Hamburg's ambition to remain in German Bundesliga top flight football next summer is under a serious threat as they drew 1-1 against second division side, Karlsruher.
Playing on the first leg of relegation play off tie at home, Hamburg were hoping for a positive result.
However, the home side didn't get what they wish for as Bruno Labbadia's men found themselves trailing after just four minutes through Rouwen Henning's effort.
Hamburg continue to struggle on that tie, but luck apparently was still on their side as on 73 minutes Ivo Ilicevic grabbed an important equalizing goal to make it 1-1.
No more goals were scored afterwards as that match ended in a draw, forcing both sides to push harder in the upcoming second meeting.
