Fiorentina are inching closer to snatch that top four seat in current Italian Serie A standings as they successfully bagged an important home win over Hellas Verona this Monday. Facing one of the surprise on this early part of season, La Viola were not having things easy though Vincenzo Montella's men did made a bright start on that encounter with Borja Valero opening the score after just five minutes of play.
However, Verona continue to prove how they are a menace for top teams so far this season as a minute later, Romule leveled things with his effort. The away side turned things around on 13 minutes through Juan Iturbe's effort, but that lead also lasted just for a minute as Valero bagged his brace to make things even again. Just before half time break, La Viola regained their lead with an effort from Juan Vargas.
Early in the second half, Fiorentina looked to take control of situation as they added a fourth goal from Giuseppe Rossi's spot kick on 54 minutes. Verona were not keen on giving up though as they pulled one back on 72 minutes through Jorginho, forcing a tense last few minutes in that match. Still, La Viola survived the scare as they hold on to that slender lead.
