The Italian secured a 1rst place spot in Group C and they had to work hard for it after coming ahead in the score-board 2-0, the 2nd half arrived and Zenit managed tie the game. Ac.Milan finally triumphed at the last 15 minutes of the game with an own goal of Tomas Hubocan.
It was a brilliant start of the game with Emanuelson taking a free kick at the 13th minute and fortunately for him it took a huge deflection off of a player in the wall and it went right into the net.
More moments of brilliance arrived for the Italians as the 19 years old Stephan El Shaarawy collected the ball in midfield and bursted past 2 defenders with some neat touches until he arrived into the box of Zenit and slipped the ball into the side of the net.
Right before the 1rst half had come to an end and Zenit salvaged 1 goal after the Brazilian Hulk was given just too much space down the left hand wing and with nobody marking him, he smashed it home.
As both squads entered the pitch to play the remaining 45 minutes, Zenit tied the game 2-2 with Shirokov arriving into the box of Ac.Milan and headed it past Abbiati.
The hosts was the more dominant side at this 2nd half as they went all out in the attack with a big number of shots being smashed into the hands of Abbiati who arguably was the best player on the pitch.
Tomas Hobocan made a disaster at the 75th minute as he scored an own goal. Pazzini was pressuring the defender in his own half and it cost his team the victory.
