Real Madrid continuing their recent run of results as they opened their shot in advancing into the semi finals stage of Copa Del Rey after taking a slender first leg lead over Espanyol. Playing as visitor in that match, Los Blancos still putting on their usual attacking display and their positive approach earned its reward on 25 minutes when Karim Benzem found the back of Kiko Casilla's net. That heading effort from Benzema separated the two teams in the first 45 minutes as Madrid taking a slender lead going into half time break.
Espanyol tried to get back into that tie as they push forward in the second period, but none of their efforts were successful as Los Blancos managed to hold their slender lead up till the final whistle was blown. Those two sides will meet again though, this time at Santiago Bernebau stadium, which on paper should make things much easier for Madrid.
