The home team were looking very keen on showcasing their ambition and pour forward right from the first period. After creating several goal scoring attempts, Frankfurt finally grabbed the lead on 35 minutes when Martin Lanig finished off Takashi Inui's lovely assist.
Despite didn't stop their attacking display, the host were stunned midway into the second period as Hoffenheim grabbed the equalizing goal through Kevin Volland's nice flick from close range. However, Frankfurt got themselves back in the lead two minutes later after Stefan Aigner nodded home a corner kick from the right side to give all three points for the home side.
