Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverkusen secured their place in the knock out stages of UEFA Champions League after successfully grabbing an important away victory over Real Sociedad this midweek. Playing away from home, Leverkusen were not shy in putting on an attacking display as they acknowledged that only a victory can open their shot in advancing from that group.
After a goalless first 45 minutes which saw both teams failing to convert any of their goal scoring chances, Leverkusen eventually got things going early in the second period as Omer Toprak puts them in front on 49 minutes. That goal turned out to be the match winner as no more goals were scored until the final whistle was blown. With Shakhtar Donetsk suffering a defeat against Manchester United, the Bundesliga side joyfully celebrate their success in going into the next round.
