Barcelona got themselves into an advantage position in the first leg of Copa del Rey semifinal stage after their success in defeating Real Sociedad at Camp Nou this midweek. Playing with the mission to regain confidence after their recent league defeat over Valencia, El Barca looking very determined in overcoming their opponent in that encounter. Barca's positive approach was not fruitless as Tata Martino's men managed to get themselves ahead on 44 minutes through Sergio Busquest's close range finish.
After the break, Sociedad tried to get back on level terms, but Barca were not keen on letting that to happen as they kept on venturing forward before eventually sealing that first leg thanks to an own goal from Zubikarai on 60 minutes. No more goals were scored after that as El Barca holding on to their two goals lead without much problems.
