Atletico Madrid continue to maintain their challenge for title in current La Liga season after grabbing an important victory over Athletic Bilbao this weekend. Eager to hold on their current top two seat, Atletico put on an aggressive display since kick off, creating plenty problems for Bilabo's defense.
The home side relentless efforts were finally rewarded when David Villa puts them ahead after 33 minutes of play as the Spanish international finished off a fine attacking move with an excellent half volley shot. That goal give more confidence for Atletico players as they continue to push forward in search for more goals and just before half time break, they fulfilled that target as Diego Costa netting home a fine effort on 41 minutes.
No more goals were scored in the second half, despite both teams still pushing for it, but they just can't finish of any of their chances in that period. That important three points put Atletico comfortably sitting in second place with 33 points, just one point behind league leader, Barcelona.
