Athletic Bilbao waste the opportunity in getting up into the top four seat of Spanish La Liga current standings after they only managed to pick up a point from their latest league fixture against Elche on Thursday. A result which in somewhat bring a bit of relief since they did come back from two goals down in that game, rescuing potential three points drop which could made things even worse.
Playing in front of their home crowd, Bilbao didn't get a bright start on that midweek encounter as they found themselves going one goal down after nine minutes through Lomban's effort. Things got even worse for the home side early after the break as Elche made it 2-0, this time from a goal netted by Aaron Niguez.
The home side were not keen on giving up easily at home as they pushed hard in getting back on level terms and their attempts were not fruitless as Susaeta pulled one goal back on 55 minutes, triggering a much more inspired performance from Bilbao. The host finally leveled things when Aduriz netting home Benat's assist on 69 minutes to secure a point from that match.
