Aston Villa are setting up for a tricky midweek battle in the Premier League as they face up against West Bromwich Albion this Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Villa Park. Sitting in mid-table, Paul Lambert's men still have that dream of pushing for European spot, though it seems like a far fetched objective at the moment, but if they can maintain consistency that it's worth a shot. Obviously grabbing three points against West Brom is necessary for the home team this midweek.
Meanwhile, West Brom themselves are still keen on picking up consistent result which should help them to keep moving away from any potential relegation trouble by the end of this season. Playing away at Villa Park won't be easy, but the visitor won't be keen on coming away without any points as they will be pushing to give their all in that encounter.
Villa eventually coming away with all three points in that midweek battle as they bagged a dramatic home victory over West Brom in a thrilling contest which saw seven goals being scored. The away side got themselves into a great position after snatching two goals lead after just 10 minutes of play with Christ Brung scoring on four minutes and an own goal from Fabian Delph on ninth minutes.
The home side bounced back though through Andreas Weimann who scored on 12 minutes, followed by an equalizing effort from Leandro Bacuna on 25 minutes. Delph eventually turned things around as he repaid his mistake by netting a third goal on 37 minutes, but the tie got tight again with West Brom leveling the score two minutes before half time break through Youssouf Mulumbu. In the end Villa got that winning strike thanks to Christan Benteke's spot kick on 64 minutes.
