Less than 3 minutes of the start of the game and Andreas Weimann of Aston Villa failed on capitalizing from the goal-scoring moment that arrived.
Benteke whipped in a shot that was blocked by Jussi Jaaskelainen but at the same time giving away a rebound which fell to Weimann and despite being completely unmarked he missed the net.
West Ham’s Joey O’Brien had to leave the pitch after suffering from a leg injury and was replaced by Guy Demel.
The visitors enjoyed the better part of the 2nd half as they dominated possession in the opening minutes after the restart of the match but not actually making it count upon the scoreboard.
The opening goal of the match arrived at the 74th minute after Mark Noble had tackled N’Zogbia and the penalty set-piece was given to Aston Villa. Christian Benteke stepped up to take the kick and made no mistake in firing it home.
Some moments later and N’Zogbia extended Aston Villa’s lead to 2 goals as he scored his 1rst goal in this Premier League season.
Ashley Westwood scored a late own goal but the hosts still managed to claim the victory and get all 3 points which are crucial for them to stay just above the bottom spots of the EPL standings.
