Darren Bent only needed 11 minutes to come into the pitch and score the equalizer that rescued 1 point for his as they faced off with West Bromwich Albion.
Villa did deserve at least 1 point from this game as they dominated the 2nd half with a number of chances that their attacking players failed to capitalize. Shane Long placed the ball inside the net of the opposition within the opening 6 minutes after both sides had already came back from their respective dressing rooms and into the playing field to play the remaining 45 minutes.
A low cross was whipped into the box of Aston Villa with the defender Ron Vlaar not managing to take a clear touch on the ball and allowing Long to fire it home. Darren Bent came off the bench to score the only goal for his side after Ciaran Clark dipped a volley but it was blocked out and Bent claimed the loose ball with a shot that went inside the net.
