Saint-Etienne continuing their mission to challenge for top three finish in French Ligue 1 as they bagged an important home win on their latest league fixture against Evian. Playing early in midweek, as it was a postponed fixture, the home side looking really eager to start their first ligue 1 battle in 2014 with a positive result and things were going well indeed for St. Etienne as they got in front after 22 minutes through Romain Hamouma's effort.
Leading by a goal in the first 45 minutes, St. Etienne kept on pushing forward for more goals as they go into second half period, but despite both teams' strong effort none of them were able to convert any of their goal scoring chances as that match eventually ended in a slender victory for the host.
