Dutch side, Ajax Amsterdam holding out their shot in getting into the knock out stage of UEFA Champions League campaign after securing a pretty surprising victory over Spanish giant, Barcelona on midweek. Playing in front of their home crowd against a side that already ensured their qualification, Ajax looking comfortable as they got themselves up on 19 minutes from Thulani Sereno's close range finish.
Ajax kept on dominating proceedings as they eventually doubling their advantage on 42 minutes from Danny Hoesen's excellent effort three minutes before half time break. Barcelona tried to get back on level terms in the second period, but they only got one goal back from Xavi Hernandez's spot kick on 49 minutes. Although the Dutch side were forced to play with 10-men after Joel Veltman saw red because of that penalty incident, El Barca still couldn't draw level in that midweek encounter.
