AC Milan's ambition in moving up into current mid-table Serie A position suffered a halt as they only managed to pick up a point from their latest home fixture against AS Roma. Coming off a tiring Champions League game, Rossoneri still looking hungry for a win as they push forward since kick off, but the same attacking approach was also shown by Roma, creating such an intense battle from both sides.
Roma got themselves in front after a fine attacking move was being finished off by Mattia Destro on 13 minutes, but Milan fought back rapidly and eventually getting back on level terms with an effort from Cristian Zapata on the half hour mark. Things got rather difficult for Rossoneri in the start of second period when goal keeper Cristian Abiatti went off and was replaced by young goalie, Gabriel. The young Brazilian's inexperience almost cost his team as his mistake gave the away side a penalty which was converted perfectly by Kevin Strootman.
Milan continue to push hard in search for that equalizing goal, but they were in danger of conceding from Roma's rapid counter attacking play. However, Rossoneri did finally got back on level terms with a fine finish inside the area from Sulley Muntari, who scored on 77 minutes. Both teams were pushing for the win and either could have won it as they missed good chances in stoppage time, notably Mario Balotelli, who missed a sitter which could easily gave the Red and Black squad all three points.
