First season at Leverkusen, in 2001/02, brought heartbreak on three fronts as club finished runners-up in Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League; started all 17 games of European run and missed just one Bundesliga game in first five seasons at Leverkusen before being displaced by René Adler.
Joined Bayern in 2008 after season to forget at SL Benfica; ousted Michael Rensing as first choice towards end of 2008/09 campaign and started all six UEFA Champions League group games in 2009/10.
