Austria and Germany meet in Group A of the Euro 2012 qualifiers on Friday with the home side in desperate need of points and the visitors in impressive form.
Austria sit in fourth place in a six team group, and need to pick up points fast if they are to stand any chance of catching the teams above them and competiting in next year’s tournament. Dietmar Constantini’s side started the campaign well with two wins, but have drawn one game and lost two since then. Their last outting saw a 2-0 defeat in Turkey, and the side look unlikely to qualify with difficult fixtures yet to play. Twente striker Marc Janko captains the side and will be Austria’s biggest threat on Friday. More on Euro 2012 odds at bwin.
Germany have looked unrelenting in what on paper looks like a difficult group, and have so far gathered maximum points. Joachim Low’s side have won five out of five games, and beat Kazakhstan 4-0 in their last game, with Miroslav Klose and Thomas Mueller getting two goals apiece. Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm captains the all-star side from full back, and most of the side’s players ply their trade in the Bundesliga.
Austria will do well to get anything from this fixture and will most likely see their chances of qualification fade away with a defeat; my Euro 2012 qualifiers football betting tip is a 2-0 win to Germany.
