Cesc Fabregas may be set for more heartbreak this summer as it can be revealed that Barcelona are unwilling to pay the £35 million valuation set by Arsenal for the Spanish midfielder. Fabregas has made it clear for the second successive summer that he wants to return home to the club where he began his career and is said to be doing all he can to negotiate a move. Barcelona however will not break the bank for Fabregas whilst Arsenal refuse to lose their captain for what they would see as a ‘nominal’ fee for someone who has been their inspiration for the past few years.

It has been speculated that the Catalan club have tabled two bids in the region of £25 million and refuse to go above what they see as a fair valuation. In the current football economic climate however where the likes of Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll, two largely untested players, moved for £20 million and £34 million respectively, Arsenal must demand a figure above the £35 million mark. Meanwhile, Barcelona are expected to secure the signing of Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez this week in a move that makes the Fabregas deal even more unlikely.

Arsenal target Adel Taarabt has admitted contact with the club but has stated he is happy to remain at QPR next season. QPR rejected an offer of £10 million from Lazio for the midfielder and are looking for a figure of around £15 million if a deal is to be done. It is unlikely however that Arsene Wenger would be prepared to pay a fee of that size for a player who is inexperienced in terms of Premier League football. Taarabt stated, ‘QPR will demand £10 million for me, and for now, the clubs do not move too much. I had contact with Arsenal and Chelsea, but it is a little mudded. Arsenal have not yet sold Fabregas, and as for Chelsea, they do not yet have a coach, so we will see’. Ironically, a move for the Moroccan could largely hinge of whether Barcelona stump up the money for Cesc Fabregas. The latest news can be found at www.arsenal.com.
