England have slipped back to eighth place in the new FIFA world rankings – barely a month after they had moved up to fourth position. Copa America champions Uruguay, Portugal, Italy and Brazil have all moved ahead of England despite the fact Fabio Capello’s side have won back-to-back Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Bulgaria and Wales.

Wales have moved back into the top 100, climbing 27 places to spot 90 whilst Scotland have risen three places to spot 52. The Republic of Ireland have also made an extremely positive rise to 29 but Northern Ireland have fallen 11 places to spot 70.
