Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt admits tomorrow’s World Cup final with Holland is his one shot at trophy glory.
For a fourth season in a row he finished up empty-handed.
But one of his country’s unsung heroes of South Africa is now on the ultimate high as he looks ahead to Sunday’s World Cup final against Spain.
Kuyt, 29, said: “Liverpool are a great club with a great history but unfortunately in my four years I haven’t won anything with them. And that’s why you play for Liverpool, to win trophies, and it just did not happen. So it proved a long, hard season and mentally it has been tough. But the Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk gave me a week off after that Premier League season so I could focus on this tournament and that was good for me. And now it is really so satisfying to end the season like this. I am enjoying myself and here we are in the final.”
