Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was panicking last night as he attempted to splash a whopping £45 million on new players. The Arsenal chief boasts an £80 million transfer chest and has also landed £9 million German defender Per Mertesacker and £2 million South Korea striker Chu-Young Park yesterday.

However, he has bid a further £22 million for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila but there was no movement on his £12 million offer for winger Marvin Martin from Sochaux. Wenger is said to have a list of 20 transfer targets and has also made a double enquiry for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Mikel Arteta.

He has also done a £6.2 million deal to bring Andre Santos to the Emirates from Fenerbache and would also like Blackburn’s Chris Samba. Chelsea pair Alex and Florent Malouda also remain on the wanted list so there is expected to be major movement by the end of the day. Follow deadline day at 1000 goals.
