Bolton Swoop For Burnley Duo

Bolton have completed a double deal for Burnley duo Chris Eagles and defender Tyrone Mears on a joint fee of £3 million.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle managed the duo while at Burnley a few years ago and has always said he admires both of their technical ability and would love to sign them on deals while managing at Bolton or any other club.

Burnley are yet to confirm the deals but have made it very clear to the football public that they are on their way out of Turf Moor and looks unlikely that they well extend their current deals at the club.

A statement on the Burnley website read: “Burnley Football Club had hoped to persuade the players to sign extensions to their present deals.

“However, with the players expressing their desire to immediately return to the Premier League, and effectively able to leave Turf Moor for free next summer, Burnley Football Club regrettably has accepted this offer from Bolton.

“Mears and Eagles will not take part in the Clarets’ pre-season friendly at Torquay today, as they look to discuss personal terms with Wanderers.

“The funds from Eagles and Mears’ expected departures will be used to strengthen the squad, with further transfer developments expected early next week. Burnley Football Club will make no further comment at this time.”
