Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil is convinced that Argentinean forward Sergio Aguero will join him at the Bernabeu next season. The Atletico Madrid star is set to leave the club this summer and has been linked with a £40 million move to both Madrid and Chelsea.

He has scored 74 goals in 175 games since joining from Independiente in 2006 and has established himself as one of the hottest properties in Europe. Real Madrid are looking to make a marquee signing this summer to try and stem the tide in Spain which has seen Barcelona dominate Spanish football for the past three seasons. German midfielder Ozil has added fuel to the speculation by stating that Madrid are reserving the No.10 Shirt for Aguero next season. Jose Mourinho remains unconvinced over the form of Kaka and sees the Argentinean as the perfect foil for star man Cristiano Ronaldo at the top end of the team. With Barcelona boasting three of the best players in the world in Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, the Real boss knows he needs to inject some life into his forward line.

The son-in-law of Diego Maradona scored 27 goals in 41 games last season but has resigned himself to leaving Atletico as he wants to test himself at the highest level, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona strike a bitter blow to their rivals by also registering an interest but as of yet no offer has been forthcoming from the Spanish Champions. Aguero is currently on international duty with Argentina in the Copa America but it seems that his future looks likely to lie at Real.

Whilst, Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that winning trophies is more important to him than individual success and he is not in a personal competition with Lionel Messi. The forwards are rightly recognised as the two best players in the world but the Portuguese star has stated he does not like to be compared to Messi. He told Cadena Cope, ‘I do not compete with Messi, I compete with myself and with all the teams in the league’. Ronaldo scored a remarkable 53 goals in all competitions last season, breaking the league record in the process but he lost out in the race for La Liga and the Champions League to Barcelona’s Messi.
