Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he’s never come close to moving to Spain.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a big fan of Gerrard’s, but the Scouse icon insists a switch to the Spanish Liga was never a prospect.
Gerrard said : “Never. There was a lot of rumours about the summer of 2005 when Chelsea wanted me, but I decided, well, I stayed. I follow the Spanish league, French, German … and it is normal that I’m asked, ‘would I play well in this competition?’ But there has never been a real possibility or one that I really wanted.”
