Tottenham dropped two Premier League points by drawing 1-1 with Wolves on Saturday at White Hart Lane, but this should by no means be a cause of concern for the club or it’s fans. Sure, it would have been great to continue the winning streak, but adding to the points tally is important, and as Harry Redknapp stated after the match, you can’t win them all.

After falling behind to a first half Steven Fletcher goal the home side showed the correct level of patience and effort to get back in the game, with Luka Modric striking from distance to level things up. Although Spurs had chances to win the game that were not taken, it should be noted that Mick McCarthy’s men had opportunities to get a second goal also.

In the end it just wasn’t Spurs’ day, and a point was probably a fair enough result. It is disappointing that we couldn’t go level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table, but Spurs are still well and truly in the mix. Redknapp reiterated his sentiments that a top four finish was the priority after the game, and the draw against Wolves in no way harms this. With Liverpool also drawing (0-0 against Stoke) and Arsenal being beaten 3-2 by Swansea on Sunday, the gap on the chasing pack remains healthy.

Next up is a mouth-watering game against City at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday, which will be a real test of character for the North London side, and also a test to see how far the team have come. Over the last two seasons we have had a hard-fought 1-0 win against Roberto Mancini’s men and a 1-0 defeat; this time it should be a close affair also.

Spurs will be looking to get a bit of revenge after we were beaten 5-1 by City at home earlier in the season. That was a team without Emmanuel Adebayor and Scott Parker, and reeling from the controversy surrounding Luka Modric’s future. This time around Spurs are playing with confidence and should look to go to the Etihad Stadium aiming for a win.

City have been floundering slightly of late, and United’s 3-2 away win in the FA Cup should show that Spurs have nothing to fear. With Vincent Kompany suspended and Yaya Toure at the African Nations Cup, the hosts are without two of their most important players, and Spurs could well capitalize on this. In the meantime, the draw against Wolves keeps the unbeaten run going, and has had limited impact upon the side’s chances of success this season.
