Arsenal forward Robin van Persie has revealed he is on schedule for a return to action in April. Dutchman Van Persie has been out with an ankle injury since he was hurt playing for Holland in an international friendly in November but has now started jogging again as he steps up his comeback to full fitness. The 26-year-old forward was in hot form at the start of the season, scoring seven Premier League goals as Arsenal looked good bets to contend for the title. But in his absence Arsene Wenger’s men have stuttered in their quest for silverware and been forced to play Andrey Arshavin as a makeshift striker. And although Van Persie’s scheduled return will probably come too late to influence the Premier League championship race, the striker confirmed he could help fire the Gunners to Champions League glory – if they reach the later stages. Van Persie said : “At this point I can say that my recovery is right on schedule. The injury has been quite bad. I would however like to be part of the team’s campaign in the later stages of the league, or if we are still there, in the Champions League.”
