Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne admits he enjoyed seeing France’s World Cup meltdown.
Thierry Henry’s controversial handball helped the French knock out the Republic of Ireland in a World Cup qualifying play-off last year, but they didn’t take advantage in South Africa. France laboured to a draw against Uruguay, and then lost to Mexico and hosts South Africa.
And Dunne admitted: “I didn’t see it – but I did laugh. If you’re going to cheat to get there, you might as well try!”
Following the match play-off last November, Dunne was visibly distraught, saying at the time: “Henry admitted afterwards he handled it, but it doesn’t make me feel any better. We were cheated.”
