Spanish national team’s failure in World Cup 2014 apparently become an unpleasant parting gift for one of their heroes, Xavi Hernandez, as the midfielder officially announced his retirement from international football.

The Barcelona veteran announced his decision to the media saying that his time for La Furia Roja has finished and now he is looking forward to set all his focus for El Barca.

Despite putting on a disappointing performance in Brazil this summer, Xavi has become an inspirational figure during Spain’s reign in international football where they won two Euros along with one World Cup title.

Xavi’s decision in quitting the national team might be the best choice as at 34-year-old it’s probably wiser to keep his only focus in playing at club level with Barcelona.
