After making a positive start on their Premier League campaign, Arsenal are looking for similar outcome in the first leg of UEFA Champions League playoff stage this midweek when they travel to Besiktas.
Speaking to the media, Gunners’ boss, Arsene Wenger, insisted that his side must be able to overcome Besiktas as playing in the Champions League group stage is an important goal for his side.
However, Wenger warned his players that playing against the Turkish outfit won’t be an easy task, especially for the first meeting which will be held in Istambul, an intimidating venue for any team.
Preparing for that difficult tie, Wenger also call up his German international defender, Per Mertesacker, who was supposedly being rested until the Everton match, but keen on avoiding any troubles, France tactician decided to take the tall defender.
