Tottenham Stunned by West Ham, Chelsea Advanced in Carabao Cup

Tottenham Hotspur’s journey in Carabao Cup this season ended this midweek as Mauricio Pochettino’s men surprisingly defeated by West Ham United 3-2 at Wembley Stadium.

Fresh from their impressive league victory against Liverpool, Spurs looked determined and still hungry for a win as they put on an aggressive display since kick off.

The Lilywhites made a bright start into that tie as they found themselves going one goal up after just six minutes of play through Moussa Sissoko’s effort.

Things got even better for Tottenham just before half time break as Dele Alli doubling their advantage, giving them a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the second half.

However, the tie suddenly turned rapidly after the break as West Ham were able to draw level in the space of five minutes as Andre Ayew scored a brace on 55 and 60 minutes.

The visitor eventually snatched that winning goal on 70 minutes thanks to Angelo Ogbonna’s header, ending Spurs’ chance of advancing into Carabao Cup’s quarter finals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea still going strong in the competition as they eliminated Everton 2-1 with goals coming from Antonio Rudiger along with Willian.

As for the Toffees, they continue their recent slump with that defeat, though the Merseyside based outfit did pick up a consolation goal through Dominic Calvert-Levin in stoppage time.
