Tottenham Held Madrid, Man City Edged Napoli

A pretty exciting day for English teams in the Champions League this past Tuesday as their representatives picked up positive results on their fixtures.

Tottenham Hotspur were able to steal a point on their travel against defending champions, Real Madrid, while Manchester City along with Liverpool were able to beat their opponents.

At Santiago Bernebau, Spurs put on a solid display as they kept things tight at the back and smoothly pushing the ball forward in every opportunities.

Mauricio Pochettino’s set up worked well as the away side got themselves ahead thanks to an own goal from Raphael Varane, but Cristiano Ronaldo was able to get things back on level terms just before half time break.

After the break, nothing changed too much as Madrid continue their forward push, while Tottenham continue their discipline play.

Despite both teams’ efforts, neither managed to score more goals as they eventually forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, at Etihad stadium, Man City grabbed an important 2-1 over their potentially strongest rival in the group Napoli.

The Premier League table topper started off in such exciting fashion as they were peppering down their opponent and got in front after just nine minutes through Raheem Sterling.

Gabriel Jesus made it 2-0 soon afterwards and it looked like the home team are destined for another comfortable big win as they created many goal scoring chances which they failed to convert.

Napoli got themselves back into the game slowly, especially after they earned a soft penalty which Dries Mertens failed to convert before half time break.

Eventually the Serie A leader did got themselves a goal back, which was also from the spot kick, only this time it was converted perfectly by Amadou Diawara.

Fortunately for the home team, they simply got what it takes to maintain their slender victory over their opponent as Maurizio Sarri’s boys failed to grab an equalizing goal.

As for Liverpool, they finally ended their three games winless streak in all competition by trashing NK Maribor 7-0.
