Chelsea’s wonderful unbeaten run in all competition this season finally come to and end on Saturday as Maurizio Sarri’s men were beaten convincingly by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Playing after international break, it was the home side that immediately took control of situation, putting The Blues under tons of pressure, resulting in the opening goal scored by Dele Alli after just eight minutes.
That early goal gave more confidence for Tottenham as they kept on playing their attacking display which immediately earned them a second goal, netted by Harry Kane.
Chelsea tried to get themselves back into level terms after the break, but Son Heung-Min’s wonderful solo run goal on 54 minutes, pretty much ended Sarri’s men hope.
The Blues did manage to pull one back five minutes from time with an effort by Olivier Giroud, but it was far from enough to change anything from that game.
It was a disappointing result indeed for Chelsea as not only it ended their unbeaten run in all competition, but that outcome pretty much put the Blues slipping down to fourth place as Tottenham move into that third place seat.
Meanwhile, two top other top Premier League sides, Manchester City along with Liverpool were able to keep their winning run going.
Pep Guardiola’s men crushed West Ham United 4-0 with goals from David Silva, Raheem Sterling along with Leroy Sane’s double.
The Reds on the other hand, defeated Watford 3-0 with all goals were netted in the second half from Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino.
