A shocking twist arrived from Spanish national team camp as their football federation have surprisingly sacked Julen Lopetegui as their head coach, just a day before world cup opener.
This decision was announced by Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales, who admitted it was a difficult decision, but something they must do because of the situation they’ve been put into by Lopetegui.
As many have already knew by know, the former Porto boss has just been confirmed as Real Madrid boss, in which he supposedly will be starting after taking La Furia Roja to participate in Russia 2018.
However, that short notice apparently didn’t go well for RFEF leaders as Rubiales revealed that it was simply not the right time or conduct for Lopetegui to not only negotiate but accept such massive job while the World Cup tournament is already days away.
The Federation chief admitted that they were simply being left out of any negotiation report and was only informed five minutes before everything was made official, a situation that pretty much left nothing but disappointment for RFEF.
It’s certainly a major decision to make as up til now, Rubiales himself also still hasn’t decide who will be replacing Lopetugei in leading La Furia Roja in Russia, though their opening game is only few days away.
