Spain Comfortably Beating Italy to Secure Top Spot

Spain’s mission to secure their table topping position in World Cup qualifier group was a success as Julen Lopetegui’s men overcome the challenge of their main rival Italy 3-0 at Santiago Bernebau.

Playing in front of their home crowd, La Furia Roja immediately try to take control of proceedings as they put on an aggressive display since kick off.

That attacking approach was rewarded quite early as the home team got themselves in front after just 13 minutes of play through crowd’s favorite, Isco, who netted home a lovely free kick.

The goal triggered positive response from Italy as they were determined in getting an equalizing goal which is important in competing for that top spot seat in their group.

However, it was Spain that managed to snatch another goal as they break free from Azzurri’s pressure and bag their second, once again from Isco’s fine effort.

Taking a 2-0 lead in the first 45 minutes, La Furia Roja lowered their tempo and attacking intensity a bit as they try to play more on the counter.

It was another excellent tactician decision made by Lopetegui as not only they were able to score their third goal on 77 minutes, this time courtesy of substitute striker, Alvaro Morata, who tapped in Sergio Ramos.

An excellent win indeed for Spain as that result pretty much secured their top position in Group G which also means that La Furia Roja looking set to grab that direct ticket into World Cup Cup 2018 finals round in Russia.
