Spain and Italy Continue Battle for Top Qualification Spot
The battle for direct route to World Cup 2018 between Spain and Italy continue as both teams won their latest group qualifying games.
La Furia Roja surprisingly had a tough encounter against Macedonia as Julen Lopetegui’s side won 2-1 away from home.
Meanwhile, Gli Azzurri comfortably dismantling lowly Liechnstentein 5-0 in front of their home crowd at Friuli Stadium.
Playing away from home, Spain had a bright start into their tie as they found themselves taking a 1-0 lead after just 15 minutes of play through David Silva.
Things looking more comfortable for the visitor as they double their advantage with an effort from Diego Costa on 27 minutes.
Taking a two goals lead in that first period seem to lower La Furia Roja’s guard as midway into the second period, Macedonia pulled one back from Stefan Ristovski.
