World Cup 2018 host, Russia, are close to securing their place in the next round of the tournament following their excellent 3-1 win over Egypt on Tuesday.

Playing with high confidence following their big win over Saudi Arabia, the home side looking really bright and sharp since kick off as they were searching for early goals.

However, it was not an easy match for Stanislav Cherchesov’s team since they are playing a desperate Egypt that also need a victory after losing their opening fixture to Uruguay.

It was a high intensity game with both teams playing end to end attacking football, though Russia looking slightly more solid at the back.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, lady luck finally turned into the host’s favor as they got their break through soon after the restart thanks to an own goal from Ahmed Fathi.

That goal simply gave Sbornaya an extra confidence as they started to dominate things more and eventually managed to double their advantage just before the hour mark through Denis Cheryshev’s finish from inside the box.

Russia pretty much secured all three points from that game when Artem Dzyuba on 62 minutes made it 3-0.

Egypt did managed to pull one back through Mohamed Salah’s spot kick, but there was just no way back for them seeing how their opponent simply had everything under control.
