Roma Reopened Serie A Title Race After Win Over Juventus

The race for Italian Serie A league title got reopened again this weekend following AS Roma’s 3-1 victory over league leader, Juventus.

That result means that Luciano Spaletti’s men are just four points away from Massimiliano Allegri’s men and with two games left to play for both sides, the title chase is far from over.

Playing with half of their mind in the Italian Cup battle against Lazio next midweek, Juve did opted to rest some of their important players.

That decision didn’t look to be that costly early on as the visitor got themselves in front through Mario Lemina’s effort on 21 minutes.

However, two minutes later, Roma drew level with a goal from their veteran midfielder, Daniele De Rossi.

After the break, it was the home side that turned things around thanks to an effort from Stephan El Shaarawy on 56 minutes.

The Giallorossi sealed all three points in that game when Radja Nainggolan netted home his team’s third goal on 65 minutes.

Now, Spaletti’s men will be hoping that Juve continue to slip on their remaining two games, although it might be difficult on paper.

Bianconeri can still seal their sixth straight Scudetto title next week should they beat relegation battler, Crotone.

However, the bottom half side might still cause some trouble for Juve, since Davide Nicola’s men have been in an excellent form recently.

Should the title race remain open next week, The Old Lady’s final match will be against Bologna away from home, while Roma will be battling Chievo before ending it with a home game against Genoa.
