One of the favorites to win the upcoming World Cup 2018, Spain, have released their final 23-players for the tournament and some famous names didn’t make the cut.
Several top players who were eventually left out by Julen Lopetegui includes the likes of Alvaro Morata, Juan Mata, Cesc Fabregas along with Marcos Alonso, who has been brilliant for Chelsea this season.
In contrary to Alonso, Morata’s struggling season at Stamford Bridge seemingly becomes the main culprit for his failure in making into La Furia Roja squad as Lopetegui seeming picked more in form names such as Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo as strikers.
As for Mata along with Fabregas, it’s notably difficult for them to get into that already packed Spanish midfield line up, especially with Andres Iniesta being given his last hurrah at international football.
Despite the absence of those well known names, La Furia Roja’s squad still consist of many quality players, who certainly deserved to be selected for Russia 2018.
Nevertheless, having several relative inexperienced front line could be an interesting factor for Spain’s chances in the upcoming tournament since things can really get tough especially when it gets into the knock out stages.
Still, with the enormous technical qualities that their players have, Lopetegui’s men remain one of the strong favorites to lift the trophy this summer.
