Croatia started off their Euro 2016 campaign with a positive result after defeating Turkey 1-0 thanks to a wonder strike from Luka Modric.
The Real Madrid star scored a scorcher long range volley on 41 minutes to give his nation that deserved lead as they go into half time break.
Turkey tried to improve their performance after the break by putting on a grittier display, but it was not successful as Croatia were able to maintain their slender lead until the final whistle was blown.
Ante Cacic’s men themselves were not without any opportunities to extend their lead, but combination of bad luck and poor finishing stopped them from sealing that game much earlier.
Nevertheless, it was still a positive outcome for Vatreni as they were able to pick up maximum points and prepare themselves for their second match.
