The Saturday big match in English Premier League went into Manchester United favor as Jose Mourinho’s men defeated Tottenham Hotspur by a single goal.

Tied in points before the game, both sides were very keen on in acquiring maximum points as they put on an aggressive display since kick off.

Despite both teams’ efforts, neither were able to score any goals during the first 45 minutes as they go into the break stuck in 0-0.

After the break, Man United tried to push forward harder and their pressure eventually worked, especially soon after Anthony Martial’s introduction into the match.

Coming in for Marcus Rashford, Martial offered a different approach into United’s attacking setup which seemingly caught Tottenham rather off guard.

That situation was proved by the only goal that arrived on that tie as the French international pounced on Romelu Lukaku’s header on 81 minutes to calmly slotted the ball pass Spurs’ goalie, Hugo Lloris.

An important goal indeed for Martial, who received some criticism for his disappointing performance last weekend during United’s 2-1 defeat over Huddersfield Town.

Tottenham didn’t give up easily though as they tried to attack vigorously in search for that equalizing goal.

However, the absence of Harry Kane along with Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to stick in playing with just one striker throughout the whole game didn’t really give the away side much options inside Man United penalty box.

Mourinho’s men hold on to their slender victory as they now create a three point gap with their opponent and maintaining that runners up spot behind their neighbor, Manchester City.
