Manchester City record breaking winning run in the English Premier League ended just before the start of 2018 as Pep Guardiola’s men were held into a goalless draw by Crystal Palace.
Keen on keeping their run in tack, Man City put on an aggressive display since kick off, but the physicality of their opponent cause many problems for the away side, including forcing important names such as Gabriel Jesus along with Kevin De Bruyne going off injured.
More than just their physical display, Palace themselves were also able to play without much pressure and giving out many problems for the current league leader’s back line.
After a 0-0 first 45 minutes, both sides tried to improve their attacking display in the second period, but nothing changed much as neither sides were able to convert their chances.
Palace actually had the best chance to end Man City’s run with a defeat when the host was awarded a spot kick, but Luka Milivojevic’s shot was saved comfortably by City’s goalie, Ederson.
In the end, Guardiola’s men can considered themselves rather fortunate in coming away with just a point from that tie as they could’ve ended their 2017 in a disappointing defeat.
Despite that goalless draw, Man City remain comfortable sitting at the top of Premier League standings with 14 points ahead of second place seat, Chelsea.
