Manchester City’s dream of finishing this current English Premier League season unbeaten vanished quicker than expected as Pep Guardiola’s men saw themselves beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Playing away from home, City actually started off the match in a confident fashion as they dominated possession and were able to create dangerous opportunities which unfortunately they couldn’t convert.
Guardiola’s men failures to turn their chances into goals during their dominant part in that first 45 minutes proved costly as just before half time break, The Blues were able to break away and snatched a goal through N’Golo Kante’s finish.
Going one goal down, Man City were very determined to get themselves back on level terms, but their opponent were growing on confidence and looking much tougher to break down.
Having to chase the game also left City more open at the back, giving Chelsea more space at times to create dangerous attacking plays, which eventually resulted in another goal for the home team.
It was David Luiz, who netted home his side’s second on 78 minutes to seal all three points for Maurizio Sarri’s men as that goal seemed to knock Man City players off their sail.
No more goals were scored in the remaining minutes of that match as Guardioal’s side must accept their first league defeat this season, which also means that they are now dropping into second place behind Liverpool in current standings.
