Manchester City extending their lead at the top of English Premier League as they are now eight points ahead of their nearest rivals following Pep Guardiola’s men 3-1 victory over Arsenal.
Coming off an impressive win over Napoli, City remained determined to put on their aggressive attacking display, though the home side looked slightly sluggish in their final ball.
Nevertheless, Guardiola’s men found themselves in front after 19 minutes through Kevin De Bruyne’s lovely finish.
Gunners were able to create some chances on their own and City’s failure to finish off their opportunities somewhat gave Arsene Wenger’s men more confidence as the match goes on.
After the break, Man City were able to double their advantage from Sergio Aguero’s spot kick, but Arsenal reacted well and pulled one back from Alexandre Lacazette’s strike.
The host regained their dominance and eventually sealed all three points when Gabriel Jesus converted an assist from David Silva to make it 3-1, much to Gunners’ players protest as they believe Silva was slightly offside before making the pass.
Meanwhile, Man United’s ambition to maintain their five points gap with their neighbor ended in a disappointment as they were defeated by Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho’s men were finding difficulties in cracking down a more energetic and discipline Blues team as Antonio Conte’s men looked motivated to take home maximum points.
The home team eventually got their goal early in the second half courtesy of Chelsea’s summer signing, Alvaro Morata, who headed home Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross.
No more goals were scored until the final whistle was blown as The Blues holding on tightly to their slender victory.
