Madrid One Point Away from La Liga Title After Win Over Celta
Real Madrid are inches away from securing the season’s Spanish La Liga title following their big away win over Celta Vigo.
Playing their postponed league game this midweek, Los Blancos didn’t waste time in pushing for three points since kick off.
Still playing without Gareth Bale doesn’t seem to bother Madrid that much as they remain aggressive going forward and got themselves ahead after just 10 minutes through Cristiano Ronaldo.
Taking a slender lead going into the second half, Madrid immediately got aggressive after the break as the double their lead with another Ronaldo’s goal.
Things seemingly got worse for Celta as they were forced to play with 10 men following Iago Aspas’ sending off.
However, that situation apparently riled up the home team as they suddenly played with lots of fire and were able to pull one back through John Guidetti’s deflected effort.
Unfortunately, that comeback attempt didn’t last long as soon afterwards, Zinedine Zidane’s men restored their two goals margin with a close range finish from Karim Benzema.
Madrid finally sealed all three points in that game as Toni Kroos netted home his team’s fourth two minutes from the final 90.
That victory puts Ronaldo and co top of La Liga standings, three points ahead of their arch rival, Barcelona and with one more game left in the league, a point will be enough for Zidane’s boys to finally grab that league title.
