Liverpool Regaining Third Place Seat, Man United Lose Again
Liverpool’s bid to keep their top four spot in English Premier League seem to be heading into the right direction as they need one more win before securing it.
The Reds’ weekend victory over West Ham United now puts them back into third place position, albeit having one more game more than their rivals.
Nevertheless, Jurgen Klopp’s men now have built a four points lead ahead of Arsenal in fifth place, which means that another three points will be enough for Liverpool to secure that Champions League spot.
In their weekend tie, Klopp’s men obviously acknowledge the pressure they’re having knowing that Arsenal won their latest league fixture.
Playing away from home didn’t stop Liverpool from dominating proceedings as they pushed forward vigorously and found themselves one goal up through Daniel Sturridge’s effort, which lasted until half time break.
In the second half, things got more comfortable for the visitor as they added three more goals via Philippe Coutinho double along with Divock Origi’s strike.
Meanwhile, Man United’s bid to chase for that top four seat practically ended this past weekend as they were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham got off to a bright start as they went one goal up from Victor Wanyama’s effort, before Harry Kane doubles it early in the second half.
United did get themselves a consolation goal through Wayne Rooney’s close range effort midway into the second period.
