Liverpool made their way into the knock out stage of UEFA Champions League in some style as Jurgen Klopp’s men demolished Spartak Moscow 7-0 at Anfield.
Needing just a point to get them into the next round, The Reds were aiming for more as they were looking for all three points in front of their home crowd.
The home team put on an aggressive display since kick off and it paid off as they found themselves 3-0 up during the first 45 minutes with two goals from Philippe Coutinho and one by Roberto Firmino.
Klopp’s boys didn’t stop as they added four more goals after the break with Coutinho completing his hat-trick while Sadio Mane got himself a brace and Mohamed Salah also got one.
It’s an important result for The Reds as it puts them top of their group with 12 points, three ahead of second place, Sevilla.
Meanwhile, Italian outfit, Napoli have to settle for Europa League participation as they crashed out of Champions League.
Partenopei were beaten 2-1 by Feyenoord, but their hope was mainly shattered due to Shakhtar Donetsk’s 2-1 win over Manchester City.
Shakhtar’s victory secured their passage into UCL’s knock out stage regardless any results from the Serie A side.
Napoli actually got off to a bright start against Feyenoord with Piotr Zielinski scoring after just two minutes of play.
However, the home team equalized on 33 minutes through Nicolai Jorgensen and despite going down to 10 men in the last few minutes of that tie, the Dutch outfit got their winning goal from Jeremiah St. Juste’s effort in stoppage time.
